Training Programs
PVi-Tech™ addresses the need to provide continuing education programs
for Materials Management. Our philosophy places the priority on
investing in an individual's training.

When given the proper tools and knowledge to complete a job, the increased accuracy and sense of ownership put into their work by each individual adds immeasurable value to the organization as a whole.

Materials Management
Coordinator
Program Content
The MMC program includes education relating to many different aspects of Materials Management that exist throughout a project. Modules are designed to demonstrate a structured format of Materials Management that begins at the very start of a project, and continues through to final construction.

Learning includes the importance of data standards, mechanical piping specifications, part numbering, 3D model material auditing, generating BOM reports in various formats - including Delta reports - and document control. Other areas of education include working with procurement, expediting, logistics, and business intelligence programs.

The seminar is tailored to the use of procedures contained in a Materials Execution Plan (MEP).

Program Description

There are many problems associated with the handling of materials data in engineering projects. With proper controls, procedures, and software tools, materials data should present less surprises and more opportunities for using repeatable tools.

The use of a Materials Execution Plan which clearly defines roles and responsibilities of individuals involved in Materials Management of projects has proven to be an effective way of adding value and realizing time and cost benefits.

This MMC certification program is designed to provide the student with the training required to be in the lead position of implementing a MEP. This course will cover a number of modules ranging from data standards, to 3D model materials auditing, to procurement and construction support.

During this course, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills by working through the Materials Management on a project from the start of design to final bolt-up. This will be done through classroom instruction and practical labs.

Materials Management
Assistant
Program Description

The role of a Materials Management Assistant is to provide support to the Materials Management Coordinator (MMC). Direction is taken from the MMC to complete tasks associated with that role.

The primary tasks involve building and managing CAD Model key plan file structures, preparing BOM exports for auditing, integration with project design team, and filling report requests from team members using QuBR.

During this course, skills will be developed by working through a simulated project under the direction of a MMC working through the materials management on a project from the start of design to final bolt-up. This will be done through classroom instruction and practical labs.

This MMA program is meant to provide the student with the training required to be the second in charge to the MMC position.

Commodity Codes
Coordinator
Program Description

Commodity Codes for individual components form an integral part of a Materials Execution Plan. A well-structured Commodity Code system has multiple advantages such as:

-
Part traceability
-
Pricing look ups
-
Specialized reports
-
Material readiness auditing
This course goes into detail on the structure of the PointVerge™ Commodity Code database format, and how the codes are associated to individual piping components in 3D CAD program specifications.

Instruction is given to explain the philosophy of how codes are derived, how a database is modified and expanded, and the benefits Commodity Codes add to Materials Management.

Various labs allow students to create specialized Commodity Codes and add them to a database template.

This program is meant for individuals responsible for creating and maintaining 3D CAD program project specifications with the ability to link Commodity Codes to components.

Attendees of this course should have a high intermediate to senior level knowledge of Piping Materials.

MEP Control
Document Lead
Program Description

A controlled document is a reference document which throughout the course of its life cycle may be reviewed, modified, and distributed several times. The role of a Materials Document Control Lead (DCL) is vital to a successful Materials Execution Plan.

This training program focuses on the importance of Document Control and the support it provides to the entire project team. The DCL works closely with the MMC and MMA in the management of documents associated with the MEP and client requirements.

The primary tasks involve preparing BOM reports for the MMC, engineering & design, procurement, expediting & logistics, vendors, and construction. Detailed filing and revision control are heavily focused on in this seminar. The use of QuBR is a key component of this role.

This seminar is designed to develop the skills needed to complete these tasks and others which may be requested by the MMC or other design team members. Certain modules will be taught in a condensed "for information" format.

During the course, skills will be developed by working through a simulated project under the direction of a MMC working though the Materials Management on a project from the start of design to final bolt-up. This will be done through classroom instruction and practical labs.

This DCL program is meant to provide the student with the training required to be the lead role for all Materials Management document control requirements.

Material Inspector Systems Administrator
Program Description

A central database is a key component to the successful use of a MEP. Data contained in this central location requires effective tools to fill data requests made by project team members.

QuBR has been developed to provide the tools necessary for managing project data to produce reports, track materials, provide complete visibility, and format document control. This tool allow a structured means of storing and making queries of all project data.

The QuBR Systems Administrator (SA) training program focuses on how to set up and manage this project data using QuBR (formerly Material Inspector).
